Why?

Why I Made This Site

A lot of you may be wondering why I would make a site for ZOEgirl exactly two years after they officially disbanded. I felt this was a necessity and that it was my duty.

I was saved before I heard ZOEgirl’s music, so I do not owe my salvation to them, but I do owe my spiritual growth and the persevering attitude I have to continue walking with Jesus, despite how “unpopular” that choice is, to them. ZOEgirl’s music is so uplifting and encouraging. Without them, I don’t know where I would be today.

I used to listen to Jump5, and they were honestly the only band I knew and liked. But of course, I started to outgrow their bubblegum pop and I was desperate in trying to find another artist to listen to. This was in 2007, when they were breaking up. When I discovered ZOEgirl, I was shocked. Here was a group with the same-no wait, better,-uplifting, infusing pop style music, but instead, ALL of their songs were about God. I could not believe it. I was 15 then. Since I only knew Jump5, I really, honestly, did now know that there were actually artists out there who sang about God-and ONLY God. I thought every Christian artist was like Jump5, only singing about God for about 3 songs on a CD.

So when I heard ZOEgirl’s music, it was like my prayers were answered, before I even prayed. God brought ZOEgirl into my life at the time that I really needed them. Their lyrics have encouraged me so much and made me want to grow closer to Jesus. I am not the same person I was one year ago when I started listening to them. They have changed my life completely.

It saddened me to find that there was not a single fan/tribute site out there about these girls. It then occured to me that a lot of people who listened to ZOEgirl’s music did not understand what it was all about. A lot of the kids who listened to them were too young and immature to understand the real depth behind the messages in their songs, which is why as soon as ZOEgirl broke up, these girls forgot all about them.

I uploaded videos of ZOEgirl on YouTube and watched some myself, and I met a lot of other people who liked their music, but did not know a thing about them. I decided that instead of having to comment on every video and say “No, they didn’t have a fight, they broke up because Kristin and Chrissy were both expecting babies,” it would be better to put together a resource for ZOEgirl lovers to learn more about them.

That is why this site is here. It is here to provide you with information about an artist, who is quite possibly, the best thing to have ever happened to Christian music.
